Cheap Kitchen Project

I’ve recently been appointed project manager on a flat redevelopment on a 1 bedroom flat in Gloucester Place, London, N1. The flat is part of a 3 floor conversion that was clearly completed as cheaply as possible and now looking extremely tired. We work typically performing complete renovations of flats in central London with budgets of £100,000 and up. This project is special, our total spending budget for this flat is £6,000 and that wants to consist of a complete new fitted kitchen, bathroom, carpets, front door and decorating and window treatments.

In this post we will discuss the procedure of sourcing the kitchen. Our 1st port of call for kitchens is always Poggenpohl, this clearly was not going to work here, our last kitchen install was £48,000, the refrigerator was over £6,000, the total budget for our fit out. Our allocation for the kitchen is £1,200 which requirements to include granite worktops, appliances, the kitchen cabinets and installation. Is this genuinely feasible?

Our initial quit were some obvious choices, Ikea. We liked the Faktum kitchen units and the high quality looked great for the funds, the cabinets were priced between £60 and £140 so kitchen units would be around £900. With appliances, worktops and installation we had been over £2,900, so it wasn’t going to be Ikea.

Our next stop was the world wide web and we selected Howdens, Kitchens Simply and Kitchens Direct. We called Howdens and we had been told they were trade only so that was pretty fruitless. Next we got a call back from Kitchens Merely soon after completing their on the internet form and we arrange an appointment with one of their guys. We did the identical with Kitchens Direct and had the appointments set for Thursday.

1st in was kitchens Direct. We looked through the range and like the clean contemporary look of the Mezzo line. The costs we had been seeing had been way out of budget even so, the more we discussed, negotiated and told him that we required a cheap kitchen, the lower they came. The salesman seemed to focus on their wonderful finance deals, which did sound appealing even though irrelevant to us as we had been a cash buyer. Although they didn’t come inside our spending budget, the item looked very good and they are undoubtedly leading option at the moment.

Next was Kitchens Merely. We looked by way of the catalogue and truly liked their contemporary kitchens but rather than acquiring wrapped up in the style this time we gave them the budget and our requirements, a total low-cost kitchen, fitted for under £1,200, no finance needed. They had a few fascinating solutions that surely fit the bill. We agreed on a black gloss kitchen, granite worktops, stainless steel appliances all installed for just over £1,600. They could come inside spending budget even so, a couple of hundred much more for granite and stainless appliances was not a tricky decision.
